How to make a Sherry Cobbler - the refreshing classic of sherry, sugar and orange over crushed ice, made famous in the 19th century.
The Sherry Cobbler was one of the most popular drinks of the 19th century and made the drinking straw respectable. Sherry, sugar and orange combine over plenty of crushed ice into a wonderfully light, fruity refreshment. An elegant aperitif with a long history.
Instructions
- Lightly press the sugar, water and orange slices in the shaker.
- Add sherry and a few ice cubes.
- Shake hard for about 15 seconds.
- Strain or pour into a wine glass filled with crushed ice.
- Garnish with an orange slice, berries and mint and serve with a straw.
