The Gin Basil Smash is one of the few modern cocktails to become a true classic. Invented in Hamburg in 2008, it delights with its bright green colour and the intense aroma of fresh basil. The combination of herbal spice, lemon acidity and gin makes it a wonderfully fresh summer drink.
Instructions
- Add the basil to the shaker and press it lightly.
- Add gin, lemon juice and sugar syrup.
- Add plenty of ice and shake vigorously.
- Double-strain through a fine strainer into a tumbler filled with ice.
- Garnish with a fresh basil sprig and serve.
