The Daiquiri is proof that three ingredients are enough to build a perfect cocktail. Invented around 1900 in the Cuban mining town of the same name, it unites rum, lime and sugar into a timeless sour. Hemingway loved it - and with fresh lime it still tastes crystal clear today.

Instructions

  1. Pre-chill the coupe, ideally by filling it with ice cubes and setting it aside.
  2. Add rum, lime juice and sugar syrup to the shaker.
  3. Fill with plenty of ice and shake vigorously for 12 to 15 seconds.
  4. Tip the ice out of the coupe and double-strain the drink.
  5. Garnish with a lime slice and serve immediately.

Garnish: Lime slice on the rim

Pro tip: Use only freshly squeezed lime juice - from the bottle the Daiquiri tastes flat and artificial.
