Frequently asked questions
Why rye instead of bourbon in a Manhattan?
Rye whiskey is the traditional choice and, with its spicy-dry note, provides more contrast to the sweet vermouth. Bourbon makes the drink milder and sweeter.
What is a Perfect Manhattan?
In a Perfect Manhattan, half of the sweet vermouth is replaced with dry vermouth, which makes the drink a little drier and more complex.
Can I serve the Manhattan on the rocks?
Classically it is served without ice in a martini glass. But over ice in a tumbler it works just as well if you prefer to enjoy it cooler and longer.
