The Coffee Flip combines the creamy elegance of a classic flip with a fine coffee note. Cognac and port form the aromatic base, the whole egg provides velvetiness, and the espresso brings roasted depth. A refined digestif for connoisseurs.
Instructions
- Add cognac, port, whole egg, simple syrup and espresso to the shaker.
- First shake vigorously without ice (dry shake).
- Add ice cubes and shake again for about 15 seconds.
- Strain into a pre-chilled coupe.
- Dust with freshly grated nutmeg and serve.
Garnish: Freshly grated nutmeg
Pro tip: Use cold, strong espresso instead of hot coffee - this prevents the egg from curdling and gives an intense aroma.
Frequently asked questions
What makes the Coffee Flip special?
The fine coffee note gives the creamy flip a roasted, slightly bitter depth that harmonizes wonderfully with cognac and port.
Hot or cold coffee?
Always cold espresso - hot coffee would curdle the egg and ruin the texture.
When do you serve a Coffee Flip?
As a digestif after the meal, since it is creamy, aromatic and gently stimulating at once.
