The Zombie is the most notorious of all tiki cocktails - a drink that lives up to its name. Three rums, exotic syrups and fruit juices make a deceptively fruity but extremely strong mix. Don the Beachcomber invented it in the 1930s and limited his guests as a precaution.

Instructions

  1. Add all ingredients except the overproof rum to the shaker.
  2. Fill with ice cubes and shake vigorously.
  3. Strain into a hurricane glass filled with crushed ice.
  4. Carefully float the overproof rum on top.
  5. Garnish with mint sprig and cocktail cherry and serve.

Garnish: Mint sprig and cocktail cherry

Pro tip: The Zombie is deliberately strong - Don the Beachcomber is said to have limited his guests to two drinks per person. Enjoy it slowly.
