How to make a Planter's Punch - the fruity rum cocktail from Jamaica with orange and pineapple juice, lime and grenadine. The classic done right.
The Planter’s Punch is one of the oldest rum cocktails of the Caribbean and has its roots on the plantations of Jamaica. Fruit juices, fresh lime and a splash of grenadine tame the strong brown rum into a smooth, summery drink. Almost every bartender knows the famous rhyming rule about the proportions.
Instructions
- Add rum, orange juice, pineapple juice and lime juice to the shaker.
- Add Angostura, fill up with ice cubes and shake.
- Strain into a hurricane glass filled with crushed ice.
- Slowly add grenadine so it sinks to the bottom.
- Garnish with an orange slice and cocktail cherry.
