The Elderflower Spritz is a floral, light aperitivo that swaps Aperol for elderflower liqueur. With Prosecco, soda and fresh mint it becomes a delicate, summery drink that tastes less bitter and wonderfully floral.
Instructions
- Fill a large wine glass with ice cubes.
- Pour the elderflower liqueur over the ice.
- Top up with Prosecco.
- Add a splash of soda and stir briefly.
- Garnish with a mint sprig and lemon zest and serve.
Garnish: Mint sprig and lemon zest
Pro tip: Just lightly clap the mint between your hands before it goes into the glass - this releases its aroma without turning it bitter.
Frequently asked questions
Which elderflower liqueur works well?
St-Germain is the best known, but any good elderflower liqueur works just as well.
Can I make the spritz alcohol-free?
Yes, with alcohol-free elderflower syrup and alcohol-free sparkling wine: it just won't be a true aperitivo anymore.
How sweet is the Elderflower Spritz?
Pleasantly mild and floral - thanks to the dry Prosecco it stays refreshingly light despite the liqueur.
