The Chi Chi is the vodka sister of the Pina Colada: creamy cream of coconut meets fruity pineapple juice and a splash of vodka. Tropical, velvety and exotic - a beach holiday in a glass for everyone who prefers it a little more neutral than with rum.

Instructions

  1. Add vodka, pineapple juice and cream of coconut to a shaker.
  2. Fill with ice cubes and shake vigorously for about 12 seconds.
  3. Strain into a hurricane glass filled with crushed ice.
  4. Garnish with a pineapple slice.
  5. Serve with a straw.

Garnish: Pineapple slice

Pro tip: Shake the cream of coconut well before opening - it tends to settle and otherwise leads to an uneven consistency in the drink.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between Chi Chi and Pina Colada?

The Pina Colada is made with rum, the Chi Chi with vodka. Pineapple juice and cream of coconut stay the same, so the Chi Chi tastes somewhat more neutral in alcohol.

Can I replace cream of coconut with coconut milk?

Cream of coconut is much sweeter and creamier than coconut milk. If you use coconut milk, you should add some sugar syrup, otherwise the drink becomes too watery.

Can I also make the Chi Chi in a blender?

Yes, as a frozen variant blend all ingredients with crushed ice in a stand blender. This turns it into the creamy, semi-frozen version.
