Yellow Fever is a brightly yellow, fruity cocktail that combines vodka with the characteristic Galliano liqueur. Lemon and pineapple juice provide a zesty-sweet balance, while the vanilla-anise note of the Galliano rounds the whole thing off. A real eye-catcher for parties and summer evenings.

Instructions

  1. Pre-chill the coupe.
  2. Add vodka, Galliano, lemon juice, pineapple juice and sugar syrup to the shaker.
  3. Fill with ice cubes and shake vigorously.
  4. Double-strain into the pre-chilled coupe.
  5. Garnish with a lemon twist.

Garnish: Lemon twist

Pro tip: The Galliano gives the drink its eponymous yellow color and a fine vanilla-anise note - do not dose it too high or it will overlay the freshness.

Frequently asked questions

Why is the cocktail called Yellow Fever?

The name plays on the intensely yellow color, which comes mainly from the Galliano and the pineapple juice.

Can I also make Yellow Fever with gin?

Yes, there are versions with gin instead of vodka - the gin's botanicals then give the drink an extra spicy note.

What creates the yellow color?

The bold yellow color comes from the Galliano liqueur in combination with the pineapple juice, entirely without artificial colorings.
