Satan’s Whiskers is a lively gin cocktail from the Savoy Cocktail Book of 1930 that combines gin, two types of vermouth, Grand Marnier and orange juice in equal parts. Fruity, balanced and surprisingly complex - a classic that is unjustly rarely mixed.

Instructions

  1. Add gin, both types of vermouth, orange juice, Grand Marnier and orange bitters to the shaker.
  2. Fill with ice cubes and shake hard.
  3. Double strain into a chilled coupe.
  4. Express an orange zest over the glass.
  5. Drop the zest into the glass as a garnish and serve.

Garnish: Orange zest

Pro tip: There are two versions - with Grand Marnier it is called curled, with ordinary orange liqueur straight. The Grand Marnier gives more depth and is the more popular variation.
