The Gin Sling is one of the oldest documented mixed drinks and the simple ancestor of many famous slings. Gin, a little sugar, fresh lemon and soda make a light, thirst-quenching longdrink. Exactly the right choice for a warm afternoon.

Instructions

  1. Add gin, lemon juice and sugar syrup to a shaker with ice.
  2. Shake vigorously for about 12 seconds.
  3. Strain into a highball glass filled with ice cubes.
  4. Top up with soda and stir briefly.
  5. Garnish with a lemon twist and serve.

Garnish: Lemon twist

Pro tip: For a more traditional take, replace the soda with still water - this is how the original sling was served in the 18th century.
