The Flying Grasshopper is the bolder version of the creamy Grasshopper: vodka meets green peppermint and white cacao liqueur. The result is a minty-fresh drink with dessert character and a striking green colour. Perfect as a sweet nightcap after dinner.

Instructions

  1. Add vodka, peppermint liqueur and cacao liqueur to a shaker.
  2. Add a little cream if you like.
  3. Fill up with ice cubes.
  4. Shake vigorously for about 15 seconds.
  5. Strain into a chilled coupe.
  6. Garnish with a mint leaf and serve.

Garnish: Mint leaf

Pro tip: Shake the drink hard and long so it becomes nicely cold and creamy - this noticeably enhances the velvety texture.

Frequently asked questions

What sets the Flying Grasshopper apart from the classic Grasshopper?

The classic Grasshopper consists only of the two liqueurs and cream. The Flying Grasshopper is fortified with vodka and is therefore bolder.

Where does the green colour come from?

The green colour comes from the green peppermint liqueur (Creme de Menthe), which gives the drink its characteristic appearance.

Can I make the drink without cream?

Yes, without cream it becomes clearer and lighter. With cream it is creamier and more reminiscent of a dessert.
