The Blue Blazer is one of the most spectacular cocktails in bar history: Jerry Thomas poured burning whisky back and forth between two mugs in a glowing arc of fire. The result is a warm, lightly caramelized whisky drink with a theatrical show. To be prepared only by skilled hands and with the utmost care.
Instructions
- Have two metal mugs with handles ready.
- Pour the Scotch into one mug and carefully ignite it.
- Add the boiling water and pour the burning liquid back and forth between the mugs several times to create an arc of fire.
- Smother the flame and stir in the sugar.
- Pour into a pre-warmed glass and garnish with a lemon zest.
