The Kamikaze is a sharp, zesty shot of vodka, Triple Sec and fresh lime juice. Shaken ice cold it tastes pleasantly sour and has been a fixture of every lively round since the 1970s.
Instructions
- Add vodka, Triple Sec and lime juice to the shaker.
- Fill up with plenty of ice cubes.
- Shake vigorously for about 10 seconds.
- Strain into a pre-chilled shot glass.
- Serve with a lime wedge and drink in one go.
Garnish: Lime wedge
Pro tip: Use freshly squeezed lime juice - that makes the difference between a flat and a nicely zesty Kamikaze.
Frequently asked questions
Is the Kamikaze a shot or a cocktail?
Classically the Kamikaze is served as a cold shot, but in a larger quantity over ice it is also drunk as a cocktail.
What does a Kamikaze Shot taste like?
Zesty and sour with lime and a sweetish orange note from the Triple Sec - very refreshing and not too sweet.
Which orange liqueur works?
Triple Sec or Cointreau both work well; Cointreau makes the shot a little rounder and more aromatic.
