Shot
B53
How to make a B53 shot - the layered shot of coffee liqueur, Baileys and vodka. Sweet, creamy and served with clean layers.
The B53 is an elegant layered shot that impresses with its three cleanly separated layers. Coffee liqueur, creamy Baileys and strong vodka stack on top of each other by density. A popular party shot that requires a little skill when layering.
Instructions
- Pour the coffee liqueur into the shot glass as the bottom layer.
- Carefully layer the Baileys on top over the back of a bar spoon.
- Finally, pour the vodka just as gently on top as the highest layer.
- Let the shot stand still so the layers remain visible.
Garnish: None
Frequently asked questions
What sets the B53 apart from the B52?
In the B52 the top layer is orange liqueur (Grand Marnier or Cointreau); in the B53 it is vodka instead, which makes the shot stronger.
Why do the layers stay separate?
The liqueurs have different densities. If you layer them in the right order and carefully, they don't mix.
Can the B53 also be set on fire?
With high-proof vodka on top it can be briefly flambed. For safety reasons, however, you should only do this carefully and deliberately.
