The Vodka Collins is the vodka version of the classic Tom Collins and a refreshing summer longdrink. Vodka, fresh lemon juice and sugar syrup are combined with sparkling soda into a light, zesty drink. Thanks to the neutral vodka it tastes especially mild and approachable.

Instructions

  1. Put vodka, lemon juice and sugar syrup into a shaker.
  2. Fill the shaker with ice cubes and shake for about 10 seconds.
  3. Fill a highball glass with fresh ice cubes.
  4. Strain the mixture into the glass.
  5. Top up with soda and stir briefly.
  6. Garnish with a lemon slice and a cocktail cherry.

Garnish: Lemon slice and cocktail cherry

Pro tip: Add the soda only at the very end and stir just briefly - that way the carbonation is preserved and the drink stays nicely zesty.

Frequently asked questions

How does the Vodka Collins differ from the Tom Collins?

The Tom Collins is made with gin, while the Vodka Collins uses vodka and therefore tastes more neutral and milder.

Can I make the drink sweeter?

Yes, just increase the amount of sugar syrup to taste if the lemon is too sour for you.

Which glass works best?

Traditionally a tall Collins or highball glass is used, which offers enough room for ice and soda.
