Batida de Coco
How to make a Batida de Coco - the creamy Brazilian cocktail of cachaca, coconut milk and coconut cream. How to nail the sweet classic at home.
The Batida de Coco is Brazil’s creamy answer to the Pina Colada and a favourite at any beach party. Cachaca meets coconut milk and coconut cream in a velvety-sweet drink full of tropical aroma. ‘Batida’ simply means ‘shaken’ - and that is exactly how easy it is to make.
Instructions
- Add cachaca, coconut milk, coconut cream and sugar syrup to the shaker.
- Fill up with ice cubes and shake vigorously.
- Strain into a tumbler filled with crushed ice.
- Optionally rim the glass with shredded coconut.
- Serve immediately while the drink is nicely cold and creamy.
Garnish: Shredded coconut on the rim
Frequently asked questions
What does Batida mean?
Batida is Portuguese for 'shaken' or 'mixed' and in Brazil refers to a whole family of creamy cachaca cocktails with fruit or coconut.
What is the difference between Batida de Coco and the liqueur?
There is a ready-made Batida de Coco liqueur on the market. The home-mixed cocktail is fresher and you control the sweetness and strength yourself.
What can I replace cachaca with?
If you have no cachaca, white rum works well too. However, the typically Brazilian character is somewhat lost that way.
